I bought these 4 chairs at Habitat Resale Store- they were a little distressed and the fabric was stained and bleh. But good chairs!! $20 each, although I had to make 2 trips to fit into my civic!
So I got out the trusty black paint and touched up the distressed parts. And removed the seats with a screwdriver underneath. It’s so easy to switch out fabric if you’ve never tried before. You just need a staplegun.
So you rip out the staples with a small regular screwdriver and pliers first. This takes a while, so if your original seat is okay you may just cover over it. I added some batting as well, then covered the seat with fabric, stretching it really taut. Then you start stapling the fabric down to the back of the seat. It can be hard to get the corners right, so just keep playing with it! And make sure the fabric is facing the right way.
You’ll get something like this!
The fabric was about 1.5 yards, at 3.50 per yard in the clearance decorating fabric bin at Hancock Fabric.
So these sold within one day for $225! That’s about $135 in profit and the buyer loved them!
